Embrace the Story – AE

I love telling stories, it such an important part of my creative process. I recently looked at some past project,s I was happy to see that I consistently included journaling on my projects. I am not the most skilled writer but it does come from the heart and I think that just as big of an impact as any poetic writings.

I am so grateful to be working with Ali Edwards and having the chance to learn from her, to become a better storyteller and memory keeper. She truly is a source of inspiration, I love her philosophy on memory keeping and approach to storytelling. I feel that I have grown so much this past year thanks to Ali’s inspiring words and classes.

Ali’s August digital kit inspired me to create this layout. I’ve been scrapbooking for over 10 years and have never used a full sized picture to create a layout. Since I know have a home printer I decided to give it a try and was so impressed with my picture. Love seeing my sweet girls together, the background was rather distracting so changing the color to black and white as the best option. I also modified the color of the digital brush to make it stand out against the black and white picture. Love the impact this digital brush brings to my layout.

I’m really excited about the digital brush that I added to the bottom of the bench, I thought it was a fun touch to the layout. I did change the brush from black to white, otherwise it would have been lost on the picture. I also used Ali’s labels stickers that are part of the Summer Sticker Pack,  the stickers were ideal for the journaling and date stamp.

The banner was created using journaling cards from past Story Kits, I have a lovely collection of kits and selected a color palette that would compliment the bold title. I completed the layout using a chipboard star from a previous Story kit and a word phrase sticker. This layout just makes me so happy!

I've been part of the scrapbook industry for over 10 years. My love of paper started at a very young age when I started hoarding a collection of notepads and fruit scented pens. My love of scrapbooking and memory keeping evolved when I became a mother. Over the course of my creative career, I've had the pleasure of designing for various manufactures; I currently design for Ali Edwards and Gossamer Blue. My style is eclectic with a flair for mixing embellishments, creating layers and a love for white space. As of two years ago, I shifted her creative focus to documenting our family’s daily activities with Project Life.
