It’s a sad reality but summer is wrapping up, I do enjoy the change of seasons, especially Fall, I love everything that this season brings, so as sad as it is so say goodbye to summer vacation it’s also nice to make the transition into cooler weather.
This month’s digital kit by Ali Edwards is the perfect fit for this transition time, the end of summer, the return to school and routine. My first project this month features the digital brushes from the kit which I paired with past Story kits embellishments and journaling cards. I also use the Outdoor stamp set from Ali’s shop.
I love the camping tent that Ali designed, it was part of a digital brush that feature not only the tent for also words, I decided to crop out the tent and use it as the main focus on my double 6×8 spread. I used past story kits 4×6 cards to fill in the white space of the tent, I love how this gives it a fun and whimsical feel. As for the “end of summer” title, I used the clone tool to select the green from the trees and replicate it on the title, this ties both pages together and helps to create a cohesive design.
The full 6×8 picture of my husband with our youngest daughters was accentuated by a digital brush which highlighted the theme of this spread, one last hooray before our return to routine. Aside from resizing the digital brush I didn’t modify the color, the black was the perfect contrast to the picture.
I repeated the half circles on both pages, one is a chipboard piece from a story kit and the other is pattern paper from a 4×6 story kit journaling card. By repeating the half circles this ensures that my design is consistent and cohesive.
I am so grateful to Ali for giving me the opportunity to work with her products, it has been the most challenging(in an awesome way), inspiring and rewarding creative experience. I never thought that I would become an avid hybrid designer but now that I have been creating hybrid projects for over 6 months I realize the creative possibilities of hybrid design truly are amazing.
